It was the first production car to feature an airbag standard, and as late as 1991 there were only a few other manufacturers in Europe who offered an airbag.

Third generation W140/C140 (1991-1998) 

The W140 cost 25% more than the W126. It replaced and featured double-pane window glazing, self-closing boot lid and doors, electric windows with a jam-protection feature (lowering when encountering an obstruction), rear-parking markers in the US (which appeared on the rear wings when in reverse), and a heating system which emitted warm air while residual energy was available after the engine was turned off.

Fourth generation W220 (1998-2005): 

As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and Active Ventilated Seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations). A navigation system with center console-mounted screen display was introduced, along with the COMAND input control system. Other options included keyless entry and ignition, a radar-controlled Distronic cruise control system and a cylinder shut-off system called Active Cylinder Control. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system was introduced to the North America market S-Class for 2003, complementing the traditional rear-wheel drive configurations.

Fifth generation W221 (2005-2013): 

The all-new W221 was introduced in the autumn of 2005 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, with sales starting in autumn of 2005 and export to other markets beginning in 2006. The W221 S-Class made its North American premiere at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in January. The W221 is slightly larger in all dimensions than its predecessor, and it features three newly developed engines with up to 26% power increase. The interior is completely new, all materials have been upgraded and make for a more luxurious ride, and the center console transmission gear lever has been replaced with a column-mounted shifter. New technological features on the W221 include an infrared Night View Assist feature and the latest Mercedes-Benz pre-collision system. The W221 features sharper exterior styling (most notably wide fender arcs) and technological improvements. The W221 is the second consecutive generation of the S-Class to be solely produced in a sedan body style.

A special armored version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been produced, known as the S-Guard. Features include the capability to withstand small arms fire and certain explosive devices, a self-sealing fuel tank, and an alarm system.[37] For 2009, Mercedes-Benz launched a long-wheelbase version of the S-Guard, known as the Pullman Guard. This model is 45 centimeters longer than the standard model and also has a higher roof and taller rear window with a different rake.

Winter is a difficult season to drive in. There are so many factors that you have to think about including the snow or moisture on the road, the temperature of the road and the temperature your tyres can handle.

Spinning is common in cold weather conditions. If you happen to spin out of control and skid then make sure that you take your foot off the throttle. Gently pull the wheel in the opposite direction of which the car is spinning. Sharp movements will damage the tyres and your brakes. It is important to stay calm if this happens.

Do not take a corner very sharply. Slow down progressively and then gently take the corner. Remember that you should not push the brakes whilst you are turning as it causes brake wear and reduces their lifespan. Slowing down to turn into another road will prevent you from slipping into the other lane.

During the winter season you have to make sure that you have the correct fitments and parts. You also have to make sure that the windscreen is clear from any frost or mist when you start to drive. To remove frost, you can pour regular tap water over it and allow it to reach the temperature of the air. Frost usually accumulates overnight and by the time it reaches morning, it is slightly warmer. Therefore pouring the tap water over your car should not freeze the windscreen.

Preventing possible shattering of the brake discs is what will keep you from spinning uncontrollably. Therefore getting the brakes checked regularly is advisable during this time of the year.

• Depending on the usage the plastic is further processed. For instance, food packaging industry warrants the plastic to pass purity standards. Hence, it goes through extra processing to ensure that there is no contamination. Consequently, it is priced high.

Pantai Tanjung Setia : Setelah Lebaran Idul Fitri kemarin untuk mengisi liburan kami main ke Pantai Tanjung Setia di Kabupaten Pesisir Barat Provinsi Lampung. Ini idenya kakak sepupu saya yang mau mudik Lebaran ke mertuanya di Bandung. Kebetulan anak saya sudah lama ingin berenang dan main pasir di pantai. 

Kita semua tahu bahwa Indonesia ini Negara kepulauan. Banyak banget hal-hal yang bisa membuat kita bangga menjadi orang Indonesia. Salah satunya di bidang pariwisata, mulai dari laut, pegunungan, alam dan budaya yang sangat beraneka ragam. Tetapi terkadang masyarakat Indonesia justru lebih memilih untuk berwisata ke luar negeri dibandingkan di negaranya sendiri.

Padahal untuk menikmati keindahan alam itu kita tidak perlu pergi jauh ke luar negeri. Indonesia terkenal akan keindahan pantainya, ada banyak pantai yang tidak kalah keren dan menariknya loh dengan pantai-pantai yang ada di luar negeri. Masing-masing pantai memiliki pesona, keindahan, keistimewaan, dan daya tarik tersendiri. 

Untuk sampai ke Pantai Tanjung Setia Krui dari rumah saya di Prabumulih, Sumatera Selatan jaraknya kira–kira 305 km. Tujuh jam perjalanan kalau bawa kendaraannya santai. Bisa melewati daerah Baturaja, Muara Dua, Ranau, Liwa. Sepanjang perjalanan akan disuguhkan pemandangan yang sangat indah. Tapi sangat disayangkan jalannya banyak yang berlubang. Kalau dari kota Bandar Lampung sekitar 224 km waktunya kira–kira empat jam setengah. 

Pantai Tanjung Setia biasa masyarakat daerah sana menyebutnya dengan nama pantai turis. Yaa karena disana itu banyak sekali turis–turis dari mancanegara. Sedang apa turis–turis itu? Para turis itu sedang liburan juga. Bahkan sudah ada yang berbulan–bulan tinggal disitu. Menurut warga sana katanya ada juga bule yang punya cottage di Pantai Tanjung Setia untuk disewakan. 

Pantai turis yang menghadap 
langsung ke Samudera Hindia memiliki ombak yang cukup kencang sehingga cocok untuk berselancar atau surfing kalau istilah orang bulenya. Saya memperhatikan turis–turis itu tidak ada takutnya digulung sama ombak yang datang bergelombang. Sepertinya mereka sedang menguji adrenalin. Selain itu juga pantainya bisa untuk berenang dan bermain. 

Untuk penginapan harganya bervariasi. Mulai dari yang memakai AC Rp 250.000 / hari dan yang memakai kipas angin Rp 200.000 / hari dengan 2 tempat tidur. Kalau tarif cottage di pinggir pantainya kisaran Rp 600.000 – Rp 700.000 / hari dan bisa ditawar. 

Jajanan kuliner juga jangan khawatir. Di pinggir pantai banyak warung yang berjualan beraneka ragam hidangan. Harganya juga masih normal. Tapi kalau mau hemat mendingan membawa bekal sendiri. Masuk ke pantainya juga tidak bayar bahkan parkir gratis. Cuma beli minuman sama makanan saja. 

Jadi misalkan teman–teman yang hobi berselancar / surfing tidak ada salahnya untuk berlibur mengunjungi pantai ini. Dijamin puas. Pantainya tidak jauh dari pinggir jalan Lintas Barat Lampung - Bengkulu. Kalau dari Jakarta atau Lampung bisa naik bis atau travel turun di Krui. Saran saya untuk yang suka mabok perjalanan minumlah obat anti mabok karena jalannya naik turun dan berliku. 

Demikian sekilas perjalanan saya waktu mengisi liburan sehabis Lebaran kemarin. Bagi yang mudik atau balik melewati jalur lintas barat Sumatera bisa sekalian mampir untuk istirahat sambil melihat keindahan di Pantai Tanjung Setia.
